This course aims at focusing on the main issues encountered in project management and to develop the project management process within the managerial context of an organisation. More specifically, this course will serve in introducing the main elements and concepts of project management, its organisational and strategic context, the role exercised by the project manager as well as its skills. At the end of the course, the student should have acquired a global and systematic vision of project management.

Part 1 : Presentation of program structure, course outline, trainers, standard and procedures. Part 2 : Introduction to project management. 2.1 Defining the field of project management (characteristics, life cycle,...), its history, its definition. 2.2 The conceptual fondations of project management. Traditional approaches to management (Mintzberg), systemic approaches and interface management, etc... 2.3 The organisational context, the various organisation structures and models. The organisation of the future. 2.4 Project management and its strategic context. 2.5 The role of the project manager. Part 3 : Simulating the management of a project. Running the "PROMAN" simulation. Such a simulation aims at giving the student the opportunity of experimenting with the many challenges confronting a project manager while managing a project, thus emulating the professional practice of project management.

Evaluation : the individual evaluation must account for at least 80 % of the total note.
